The young man died a year ago in the area of Joint Forces Operation near the village of Zaitseve of Donetsk region.
Bohdan’s mother Svitlana Kolomiiets was present at the grieving ceremony. It was she who took a yellow and blue cloth off her son’s memorial plaque.
The memorial plaque is on the building of the Faculty of Infocommunications, Radio electronics and Nanosystems.
Bohdan Kolomiiets studied at the Department of Radio engineering of VNTU, he received a Bachelor's degree in specialty “Radio engineering” in 2016.
Bohdan Kolomiiets was the commander of the 2nd Sniper Division of a platoon of the 24th Brigade.
By the decree of the President of Ukraine “for personal courage and selfless actions identified in defending State sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine he was awarded with the Order “For Courage” of the III degree (posthumously).
It is the third memorial plaque that was opened at VNTU to graduates of the university who died in the East of Ukraine.
The memory of 19-year-old Volodymyr Mukha is commemorated on the building of the Faculty of Electric Power and Electromechanics.
On the building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Transport there is memorial plaque to 26-year-old Yurii Babko.
However, the list of losses of VNTU graduates at the war is longer.
Roman Melnychuk studied at the Faculty of Computer Systems and Automation. He fought in the Battalion “Donbas”, died under Debaltsevo.
Taras Sych studied at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Thermal Power Engineering and Gas Supply. He died also under Debaltsevo.
