On May 26 - 27, the competitions of the 12th International Programming Olympiad to the Academician Vekua Cup were held .This event summed up the results of the olympiads held under the rules of the student championship of the ACM-ICDC during 2017/2018 academic year.
The Vekua Cup is a professional Olympiad that does not limit the membership at all. Schoolchildren, students and graduates; students and their coaches; professional programmers and amateurs can compete here.
Participants can compete in individual and/or team tours. Teams may include from one to three participants, each of whom may represent different educational institutions, companies, cities, or countries.
This year's competitions were held in multi-site mode on the sites of five countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine.
In Ukraine, the Olympiad Cup was hosted by three universities: Vinnytsia National Technical University (VNTU), Odesa National Academy of Food Industry (ONAFT) and Uzhhorod National University (UzhNU).
Vekua Cup coordinator in Ukraine was Professor of the Department of Computer Science of VNTU Volodymyr Mesiura.
Seven teams from VNTU, one team from Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University named after Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi (VDPU), one team from Donetsk National University (DNU) and 11 teams (!) from Vinnytsia Physics and Mathematics Gymnasium №17 (FMG №17) were registered on Vinnytsia platform for participation in competitions.
In addition, four teams from T. Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (KNU), one team from Ivan Puliui National Technical University of Ternopil (TNTU) and one student from Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA) came to Vinnytsia to participate in the Olympiad..
Yevhen Zadorozhnyi, a graduated from Uzhhorod National University, got a confident victory with 9 tasks among 101 participants. He also became the owner of the Vekua Cup in his personal score.
Adalbert Makarovych, a student of the 11th form of the classical gymnasium of Uzhgorod, was the winner with 7 tasks among schoolchildren. He will be awarded the special Iveri Prangishvili prize.
Among 41 participants on Vinnytsia site, the winner was Kievan Mark Mikhno being the 7th in the general score, he got the Vekua Cup diploma of the 1st degree.
Two 2nd places on the site were won by Yurii Shmerchuk (VNTU, the 13th place in the general score and the Vekua Cup diploma of the 2nd degree) and Oleksii Kavka (VNTU, the 22nd place in the general score and the Vekua Cup diploma of the 2nd degree).
Three 3rd places were won by: Matvii Strechen (KPU, a graduate of FMG №17, the 26th place in the general score and the Vekua Cup diploma of the 3rd degree), Oleksandr Spazhev and Leonid Kuznetsov (VNTU, the 35th and 43rd places in the general score).
The best among schoolchildren of Vinnytsia site Mark Bargo (FMG №17) became the 16th in the overall score and the 3rd among the schoolchildren of the Vekua Cup having won the 2nd degree diploma.
The 2nd and 3rd places were won by representatives of FMG №17 Eduard Tykhoniuk and Maryna Mesiura.
On May 27, 77 teams participated in the Vekua Cup team tour.
The 3rd team result for Ukraine on Vinnytsia site was shown by KNU team OlyaWakeUp ─ Mark Mikhno and Olha Kramarenko (the 7th place in the general score and the Vekua Cup diploma of the 1st degree). The 2nd place was won by ShevaTheBest team ─ Ruslan Sakevych and Vadym Bezdushnyi (the 12th place in the general score and the Vekua Cup diploma of the 2nd degree).
The best teams of VNTU: ++j+++j ─ Mykhailo Krentsin, Oleksandr Vosmushko and Anton Zubko and [figTree] ─ Oleksii Kavka, Andrii Andreiev and Maksym Melnyk won the 3rd and 7th places on Vinnytsia site (the 18th and 24th in the general score and the Vekua Cup diploma of the 3rd degree).
The winner among schoolchildren was the team of FMG №17 Sabre-toothed pariahs consisting of Mark Bargo, Maryna Mesiura, Vladyslav Pishenko (the 17th place in the general score and the Vekua Cup diploma of the 3rd degree).
