One hundred and half schoolchildren from all Vinnytsia region who are capable to Sciences became students of the Lyceum of Vinnytsia National Technical University
On September 1, the right to bring the State flag of Ukraine into the festive student alignment was entrusted to Maksym Lukanov, the 11th-form student, and Viktoriia Kondratiuk and Alina Havenda, students of the 8th IT-class.
Lyceum students laid flowers to the Memorial plaque to Volodymyr Mukha, the fourth-year student of VNTU. This twenty-year-old young man was killed in a battle near Luhansk at dawn on July 21, 2014. He was a volunteer of the 24th assault battalion of special purpose “Aidar”.
At the celebrations on the occasion of the opening, the authorities of Vinnytsia region assured that the new institution of Vinnytsia region will have the level of training equal to the level of training of the leading universities of the State — the Ukrainian Physics and Mathematics Lyceum of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Lyceum of Karazin National University of Kharkiv and the Lyceum of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
Head of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration Valerii Korovii said,
“We have created all the necessary conditions that will enable talented children from Vinnytsia region to receive high-quality knowledge that will give them the opportunity to enter the best universities of Ukraine. The idea of creating the Lyceum was supported both by the Regional State Administration and the Regional Council. Deputy Head of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration Ihor Ivasiuk and acting Director of the Department of Education of Vinnytsia Regional State Administration Volodymyr Buniak also attended the solemn ceremony.
Valerii Korovii handed over two certificates for 724 000 UAH to purchase computer and multimedia equipments for the Cabinet of Maths to acting Director of Podillia Scientific and Technical Lyceum Vitalii Kozachenko. By the beginning of the academic year more than 1.5 million UAH had already been used for technical equipments of the Lyceum. VNTU gave the Lyceum 1400 m2 of their room, the floor of one of their academic buildings, where students of the Faculty of Power Engineering and Electromechanics study.
Rector of VNTU, Doctor of technical sciences, Professor Volodymyr Hrabko said,
“The University staff, which is consists of more than 70 doctors of sciences and more than 400 candidates of sciences, will gladly take part in the educational process of the Lyceum”. The University has already thought how to involve young lyceum students in the second half of the day — scientific clubs and societies will be open for them at most departments. Lyceum students will be fully supported on the State, they will free live at the University dormitory, will have free meals five times a day. Lyceum student Danylo Shcherbatyi said, “It will be the Faculty of Power Engineering of Vinnytsia National Technical University where I plan to study.”
The Lyceum will work as part of tripartite agreements between Vinnytsia National Technical University, Vinnytsia Regional State Administration and Vinnytsia Business Club. The entire educational process will cost about 5 million UAH of the regional budget.
