On September 8, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with students of VNTU
Taking part in the festivities on the occasion of the day of Vinnytsia, the President found time to chat with the winners of international contests on computer graphics and Web design — students of Vinnytsia National Technical University. Rector of the University, Doctor of technical sciences, Professor Volodymyr Hrabko also participated in the meeting. Last year students of the University won 160 victories in such international competitions, 42 of them in foreign countries. The achievements have solemnly been registered in the “Guinness Book of Ukraine” this year.
But the number of such achievements has now increased significantly! Computer graphics and Web design Studio has been operating at the University for several years, its students have won more than 600 international IT-victories. Doctor of technical sciences, professor Oleksandr Romaniuk and candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Viktoriia Voitko manage the Studio and teach students of VNTU intricacies of the specialty and ability to win in the international arena.
The head of Ukraine outlined the purpose of the meeting, “First of all, your opinion is interesting for me — what the State should do in order the sector of the IT-industry in Ukraine to be competitive.” Therefore, he attentively listened to the questions that were asked and give meaningful answers.
“We cannot lose achievements of the Ukrainian technical school including of Vinnytsia National Technical University. They are important! And the fact that your graduates are appreciated all over the world is a vivid confirmation of that,” said the President. “The demand and the market for IT-services is growing by 30-50% every year. The IT-sphere has no borders. And you can work for any company in the world. And we have to create conditions in oder these opportunities to globalize IT-sector to be competitive.”
In three weeks Vinnytsia National Technical University will take part in two large-scale international IT-events. On October 9-11, a team of VNTU students (head – Dean of the Faculty of management and information security, candidate of economic sciences, Associate Professor Mykola Nebava) will represent Ukraine at the Enactus World Cup in the Silicon Valley (California, United States). In general, the Enactus VNTU team has already become the winner of all-Ukrainian championship and participated in the ENACTUS WORLD CUP for the fifth time.
On October 19-21, Vinnytsia National Technical University will hold the South-East European semifinal of the Student World Championship in programming ACM-ICPC for the eighth time. And indeed a sensational message — Ukraine confirmed the right to host the ACM-ICPC World Finals in 2022!
The Organizing Committee of the АСМ-ІСРС provided the country with the status of a candidate to host the World Finals in 2022 after receiving a report about the work carried out by Ukraine, and in particular by Vinnytsia National Technical University, for previous years.
“I am proud of the creative initiatives of the youth and support all talented students. Together, we will build new, modern Ukraine!” summed up the President.
