On September 28, at 14.00 a memorial plaque to Yurii Babko, a former student of the Faculty of Machine Building and Transport, the hero of the ATO, was open at Vinnytsia National Technical University
The young man died on July 14, 2015 in Luhansk region near the village Syze checking the reliability of the mine fortifications near the Ukrainian-Russian border. Along with him four soldier-fellows were killed.
Yurii was only 26 years old. He was a volunteer in the army, he served as a senior soldier and a sapper.
Yurii Babko was posthumously awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the III degree by the Presidential Decree No. 330/2016 of August 11, 2016 “for personal courage and professionalism found in defending State sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, fidelity to the military oath”.
The idea and organization of opening the memorial plaque to the hero belongs to Leonid Polishchuk, Ph.D., Professor of VNTU.
