On the last day of summer, more than a thousand freshmen solemnly proclaimed the student's promise of Vinnytsia National Technical University. “You have become students of the powerful Ukrainian University that is able to give you everything that a competitive specialist needs now — qualitative possession of your speciality and information technologies, knowledge of foreign languages, English first of all, ability to work in a team. So, if you work hard, you will become an engineer just as that is in demand on the job market. Since this year, for the first time at our University, students can study at a startup school and implement their ideas into business. Since this year, for the first time at our University, you can get military education,” Rector of VNTU, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Hrabko addressed to the freshmen.

  Company Uber will discuss the prospects of co-operation with Vinnytsia National Technical University at the round table discussion on the development of the startup movement in Ukraine, which will take place at the University on September 11   On August 29, Deputy Mayor of Vinnytsia Vladyslav Skalskyi visited Vinnytsia National Technical University to get acquainted with Vinnytsia Startup school “Sikorsky Challenge”.   Thus he became the first to test the Uber application in our city and call a taxi to the administrative building of the City Council.   “The cities, where Uber operates, are selected by population, the number of downloaded applications and the number of willing carriers to work with Uber. The payment for trips will be by cash and cash transfer. Money is withdrawn from a bank card attached to the application after the trip. An important feature of the service is that the user can estimate the cost of a trip before it starts,” says Vladyslav Skalskyi.

  Eight projects of the winners of the competition will build the potential of Ukrainian universities according to the EU ERASMUS + program “Development of the potential of higher education since 2017” Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EASEA) announced the results of 2017 competition in the area “Development of the potential of higher education” according to the European Union ERASMUS + program to support reforms in higher education.   In general, there were selected and recommended for funding 149 projects including 8 projects with the participation of Ukraine, the total cost of which is about 7.5 million euros with the participation of 41 Ukrainian organizations.

  Rector of VNTU, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Volodymyr Hrabko and Head of the Department of training and production integration of VNTU, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Kostiantyn Koval participated in two large-scale IT-events of Vinnytsia There happened two large-scale IT-events in the life of Vinnytsia in one day: the presentation and creation of an IT-cluster of Vinnytsia and the battle of startups.   In the first half of the day, the official presentation of Vinnytsia IT-cluster was held at the Creative Center “Artynov”.   Dmytro Sofyna, one of the initiators of Vinnytsia IT-cluster, presented the structure and purposes of the cluster. The presentation was attended by managers of IT-companies, heads of educational institutions, representatives of civic and business organizations in the IT- field, representatives of media.

That is why this year our University is going to start a new course at the Startup School, which has already become one of the business cards of Vinnytsia National Technical University.”   Volodymyr Romanenko, Director of Information Technologies Department of Vinnytsia City Council thanked the graduates for their creativity and assured them that the city authorities would fully support innovative projects and solutions of young people aimed at improving life in Vinnytsia.

  During the second half of May, Vice-Rector for the Scientific Work of Vinnytsia National Technical University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Serhii Pavlov visited Hebei province (China)   Educational portal PedPRESA   For many years scientists of Vinnytsia National Technical University have been engaged in a lively scientific cooperation with Chinese educational institutions and organizations, in particular, Changchun University of Fine Mechanics and Optics, Chinese technological park of high technologies (city Jinan), Shandong Transport University, Quli Normal University (Shandong province), Tianjin University of Technology (city Tianjin), Hebei University of Engineering (city Handan), the Agricultural University of Hebei (city Baoding).

On May 30 the results of the inter-regional competition for the best scientific work-startup “Smart region, city and educational institution for the community life and development” The Contest Committee, which included scholars, representatives of the Swiss Confederation “InnovaBridge”, the Eastern Europe Foundation, public authorities, and business incubators, selected 26 best works from all Ukraine.   Vinnytsia region in the Committee was represented by Oleksandr Khoschaba.   The team from VNTU consisting of the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Systems and Automation, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Oleh Bisikalo, Candidates of Technical Sciences, Assistant Professors Olena Kovalenko and Yevhen Palamarchuk received a confident victory and a cash prize for the development of the startup “Electronic control system JetIQ” in the most comprehensive nomination for the electronic systems of the educational process supporting.

  On May 26, the National competitions of student of the international organization Enactus was held   Information portal “My Vinnytsia” Educational portal PedPRESA The leading universities of Ukraine from Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Vinnytsia represented their projects. The team of Vinnytsia National Technical University consisting of Yanna Chaikovska as a team captain, Kateryna Podolianchuk, Dmytro Ivchuk, Andrii Zhuravlov, Vitalii Mochkodan, Artem Kimpaiev, Serhii Shataliuk, and Dean of the Faculty of Management and Information Security Mykola Nebava as a team coach represented and defended three successfully implemented projects.   The success of the blinds – the students collaborated with the Organization of the blinds and scientist Oleksandr Sheremeta to improve working conditions for people with visual impairments. Let it Bee – the project's aim is to facilitate communication between beekeepers and farmers to save bees, time, money and increase the income of both parties.

Our Vinnytsia National Technical University is on the 23rd position among 200 higher education institutions in the country. Last year, the University was on 25th position, two years ago it was on the 28th position of this ranking The centre for International Projects “Euroosvita” (“Eurostudy”) in partnership with the international team of experts presented the 11th academic ranking of higher educational institutions of Ukraine “Top-200 Ukraine”.   The integral index is represented by three components ─ quality of scientific and pedagogical potential, quality of training and international recognition.   For next 5-10 years most traditional professions will disappear and new ones will replace them, however, universities continue and even increase their training in outdated curriculums and techniques. Therefore, the most important criteria for university ranking at present are their actual innovation activity, their close connection with the developed labor market and the achievement of the world level.
